Welcome Home Aunty Shirley
Glynn's aunt's condition worsened on Saturday. Her kidneys were failing and her blood was not good. The staff at the hospital made her as comfortable as possible, but there wasn't very much they could do for her. Aunt Shirley managed to respond to family and staff but she was very weak.
Grace and I called her at about 1pm today and we were given the sad news that she was dying. I'm glad I got to say goodbye.
Aunt Shirley was a very special aunt. She was Glynn's godmother and he has many wonderful memories of her. She was the aunt who took him and Dale to town and shopping. They did many things together, like cover her classes books and polish her floors. She was the aunt who always sent us birthday, Christmas and anniversary cards. Aunt Shirley was the one who got us our wedding photographer. She enjoyed giving and she was the aunt who lived just next door.
Aunt Shirley was the one we stayed with when we visited Cape Town in December. We got to celebrate her 70th birthday with her on December 11th. She would knock on our door each morning and say good morning to "princess Grace" She loved having Grace around the house. She baked us special treats.........coconut and jam squares (thank goodness I have her recipe) and spoiled us in her own special way.
We're all sad to see her go, but there's joy and peace because we know she's in Heaven.
Welcome Home Aunt Shirley we'll miss you.
Robyn
