Practice makes perfect

Grace has become really adept at walking. She's spent most of the weekend practicing and crawling is now taking second place to her walking. We'll sure miss her days of crawling round the house. She's such a cutie though and loves walking with something in her hand. I sometimes call her "the bag lady" always wanting to hold onto something. Grace often wants to do more than one thing at a time........... oh my, she's already multi-tasking!! This video clip has her holding onto her telephone. She already loves the phone.........a taste of things to come.

Grace is walking

Grace has just taken her first steps!!

We were in her bedroom this evening; when I looked back at her, I was amazed to see her take her first steps all by herself. In fact, I had to do a double-take..........The concentration on her face and and her determination to keep going were priceless. She finally fell down after taking 6 steps. I broke out in a huge cheer and the look on her face said "Mama what's all the fuss about?"

I'm so glad I got to see her take her first steps.

Our Family Holiday

We returned about a week ago from our family holiday in Cape Town, South Africa. It was absolutely fantastic!!!!!

The holiday was made more special because of Grace. She experienced many firsts.............her meeting the family, her first encounter with the sea, eating ice-cream, chocolate cake(thanks Jo-Ann), chips, walking bare-feet on the grass and playing in the sand. There's just too many to mention. It was wonderful and I loved seeing Grace enjoy the freedom to explore. She lived in shorts and sun-dresses and her little bathing suit was just too cute..........compliments of Uncle Dale. Grand-dad and Grammy spoiled her by ensuring she had a full Summer wardrobe!!! Grace provided the family with much entertainment as only a precious baby can. She blossomed with all the love and attention that was showered on her.

Now we're back in cold Brussels where the temperature has fluctuated from 3 below zero to about 7 degrees. How I long for the hot weather, blue skies and sunshine....... I've bought Grace and I new winter coats and we're back into wearing our many layers to cope with the cold brrrrrr.......

We miss the family and beautiful Cape Town and it's weather. Grace has to once again get used just being with dad and mum. How boring.........

I feel like I left Brussels with a baby and returned with a big girl. She has become so much more vocal.........her vocab. consists of 3 words dada, baba and mumum. She knows the word "no" and protests vocally and bodily when she hears it being said. She loves imitating and brings her hand to her ear saying "hello".........she's fallen in love with the telephone. She now walks with Glynn and I holding either one or both her hands. She laughs hysterically when we play the game hide and seek. She has 8 teeth and can wave goodbye. Grace is a water baby, she just confirmed this by crawling and walking into the waves with such confidence. She didn't even mind it being a little bit cold!! I think she'll be my swimming partner when she grows up.

Enjoy the pics!

Love,
