Grace's Girlfriends

Riley, Natalie and GraceNatalie and Grace

Grace had a play-date with her girlfriends the other day.

Natalie and Grace were born on the same day. In fact this is how we met........in the hospital. Laura and I shared a room after our deliveries. Of course we were both disappointed not to have our private rooms ready, but we soon got over the disappointment when we learned that we both spoke English and Laura and hubby Stephen were connected to a church called The Well. She and hubby are missionaries from the US.

Riley, is a week older and she's of Dutch, Chinese and Indian descent.

All three girls are just beautiful and it's a real treat to see them together.

I'm thrilled that we've been blessed in this way! It's wonderful to have friends with babies the same age as Grace. I can see us celebrating many special occasions together.

We met up with a few friends one Saturday to enjoy the game of petanque. It's a popular pastime here in Brussels and it's funny to see how competitive the game can become. It's especially fun to watch the older men playing as they take the sport rather seriously. We've even seen a few tape measures making their appearance as distances between the boules are calculated. I, however, don't know much about the rules or the game, it's just fun to watch.

Friends

We had a friend from SA visiting us in the month of June.

World traveler Shireen, combined her business trip to Brussels with a sight seeing tour not only of Brussels ,but of the Arctic Circle too. After umpteen flights and a trip on the ferry, she met up with Santa Claus and saw the midnight sun. Shireen's an avid traveler ...............I wonder where she'll be off to next?

It was good catching up with you Shireen!

Tears

Grace had her 4 month vaccinations on Thursday.

Doc certainly had a harder time giving Grace her shots because she can roll over now.............so, the whole experience was even more traumatic than usual. But, a cuddle with daddy and the tears subsided. No more vaccinations till she's 12 months old. Yipppeeee!!!!!!

Grace now weighs 6,850g and measures 62.5cm in length.

The First of Many.........

Grace has been gaining more control over her body the last few weeks and with this newfound experience has come some special first time surprises. She held her bottle for the first time last month and yesterday morning she turned from her back onto her tummy. Grace always wakes up happy, babbling to herself in her cot. Well, yesterday morning we were greeted by our little girl lying on her tummy. This morning she surprised us yet again...........not only was she on her tummy, but she'd also swiveled herself around and was facing the complete opposite direction to the position I'd laid her down to sleep in the night before. How she managed to do all this and continue with her babbling....... I have no idea.

I suggested we place a video camera in her room to record when and how she does her surprise movements. :-)

It's so special to see her becoming more confident. We're the proud parents urging her on to do more. Each day with her is wonderful!!!!
