Drive-in Movies

During Summer, Brussels sets up a drive-in movie theatre in Cinquintenaire Park. Glynn and I went last night to see the movie "The Break-up" with Jennifer Anniston. Instead of taking our car, we decided to walk over with our chairs and snacks. The park is a short 10 min. walk from home and the movie is free for pedestrians. The movie screen is set up in the corner of a large cobblestoned area and there's plenty of room for cars, pedestrians and cyclists. Glynn and I made ourselves comfortable in a covered area close to the speakers. We enjoyed a great evening and remembered times gone by when as children our parents would take us to the drive-in. We'll be back this Friday!!

The Carpet of Flowers

Every 2 years Grand Place is the setting for a truly impressive display..........the carpet of flowers. One million begonias are used to weave this colourful 1,800 square metre tapestry. The carpet is laid in 48 hours with the aid of 120 volunteers. The display lasts as long as the begonias stay fresh; a mere 4 days.

Glynn and I got to see the spectacular firework display on the evening of its inauguration. Wow, wow!!

Ghent Music Festival

Glynn and I visited the Ghent music festival a couple of weeks ago. It's a poular event attracting more than 1.5 million people. We had a fun time exploring and listening to some of the artists playing.

We couldn't resist taking a picture of a man wearing a Gisborne T-shirt. For those who don't know, Gisborne is a tiny town on New Zealand's east coast. It's a small, small world!
