My Identity

In Bible studies I'm studying God's character from James Macdonald's book " Gripped by the Greatness of God"

I'm learning some pretty amazing stuff!

God is Personal. I am chosen. I can have confidence.
God put me on His most wanted list. He spoke the world into being but He formed me and continues to be the potter and I the clay. " 'Many are called, but few are chosen' " Matt 22:14. I have been called by name. " .........I have called you by name; you are Mine!" Isaiah 43:1

God is Present. I am strong. I can have perseverence.
" I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me" Phil 4:13

God is Loving. I am valued. I can have security.
" 'Since you are precious and honored in My sight, and because I love you, I will give men in in exchange for you, and people in exchange for your life' " Isaiah 43:4 I am valued because of Who I belong to and I have security in Him because He doesn't
change.

God is Faithful. I am heard. I can have peace.
God hears every cry and every plea. He knows our thoughts before we know them. " ' Before a word is on my tongue You know it completely, O Lord.' " Psalm 139:4 What a God! I can have peace and rest in Him.

God is Patient. I am forgiven. I can have praise.
Even on the cross "Jesus said" ' Father, forgive them, for they do not know what they are doing' " Luke 23:34

Thank you that I can be all I am because of Who You Are.

Ascension Day

Today is Ascension Day, a public holiday in Brussels. I find it odd that Good Friday is not a public holiday but Ascension Day is. Anyway, it feels good to spend a day with hubby and be reminded of the significance of this day. This is true for me, that it's only when I'm stopped from all my business that I make the time to sit and ponder over things. I'm grateful for the time to reflect.

The weather has not been the best in Brussels over the last week. Where did the beautiful sunshine and warm weather go? It's been replaced by rain and temperatures in the lower teens. There goes our bike ride for the day..........

Mother's Day

God's gift.

Can you be a mommy if your baby is not with you?

I thought of you and closed my eyes, and prayed to God today.
I asked what makes a Mother, and I know I heard Him say:

A mother has a baby, this we know is true.
But, God, can you be a mother, when your baby's not with you?

Yes, you can He replied, with confidence in His voice.
I give many women babies, when they leave is not their choice.

Some I send for a lifetime, and others for a day.
And some I send to feel your womb, but there's no need to stay.

I just don't understand this God, I want my baby here.

He took a breath and cleared His throat, and then I saw a tear.

I wish that I could show you what your child is doing today.
If you could see your child smile, with other children who say;

We go to earth and learn our lessons, of love and life and fear.
My mommy loved me oh so much, I got to come straight here.

I feel so lucky to have a mom, who had so much love for me.
I learned my lesson very quickly, my mommy set me free.

I miss my mommy oh so much, but I visit her each day.
When she goes to sleep on her pillow where I lay.

I stroke her hair and kiss her cheek, and whisper in her ear.
"Mommy don't be sad today, I'm your baby and I am here"

"So you see my dear sweet one, your children are okay.
Your babies are here in My home, they'll be at heaven's gate for you."

So now you see what makes a mother. It's the feeling in your heart.
It's the love that you had so much of, right from the very start.

Though some on earth may not realize you are a mother, until their time is done. They'll be up here with me one day, and you'll know that you're the best one!

Thank you to my husband who wished me Happy Mother's Day, even though our babies are not here.

Well, I finally got down to creating my own blog! I've never done something like this before so it will be exciting to see how it developes.

Our journey in Brussels has been an interesting one thusfar. A road of joy and sorrow..........
hence the bible verse "I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me"

Yesterday, I wrote my test to get into French class. Yippee, I passed, and my course starts next semester.........6 hrs p/week. It's exciting as the language issue has been a challenge. It's possible to get by with English, but we miss out on so much and of course it will be so much easier when we understand what people are trying to say.
